Participation in the “Coffee with You” session is open to all RRFS members attending the EAN Congress. Simply drop by the designated area during the scheduled time, grab a cup of coffee, and join the conversation.

Kristian Steen Frederiksen

Dr Kristian Steen Frederiksen is a neurologist and associate professor at the Danish Dementia Research Center in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is the director of the Clinical trial unit and leads research within Alzheimer´s disease and Lewy Body dementia with focus on early disease manifestations, biomarkers and treatment approaches. Dr. Frederiksen is also the past co-chair of the EAN Scientific Panel on Dementia and Cognitive Disorders and serves as a member of the EAN Guideline Production Panel.

Federico Massa

I am a specialist in Neurology, graduated with honors, and Ph.D. in Clinical and Experimental Neuroscience in May 2023. I am currently a Research Fellow at the of Neuroscience, Rehabilitation, Ophthalmology, Genetics, and Maternal and Child Sciences (DINOGMI) of the University of Genoa, and consultant neurologist at the IRCCS Policlinico San Martino Hospital in Genoa (Italy).

Since the early years of my training, I have been involved in the management of patients with degenerative diseases in the areas of dementia and movement disorders and rare neuroinflammatory disorders in the spectrum of autoimmune encephalitis. I have also gained experience in the field of scientific research, with more than 70 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and several monographs in book chapters. Additionally, I possess expertise in the field of molecular imaging and CSF biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis purposes in neurocognitive disorders. I am an organized and proactive person, able to work in a multidisciplinary team and relate to patients with empathy, effectiveness, clarity, and responsibility. I have learned the capability to develop a research project or work plan, carry out analyses, and perform critical evaluations of the data. I have a critical mind, am dedicated and passionate in my work, and am able to complete multiple tasks with optimal results successfully and to present experimental data to external audiences. Since September 2020, I have been working with leading experts in the field of neurocognitive disorders across Europe as a member of the Executive Board for a high-level European consensus project aimed at orienting biomarker selection for the diagnosis of MCI and mild dementia, which was recently published in February 2024.
